Generation - 2008

Generation is The REP's exciting international festival of new work for and by young people aged 12-25. This brilliant new initiative contains a mix of national and international work from visiting companies, site-specific work performed by young people, a series of short plays for lone performers all happening in Spring 2007 plus an exploratory conference scheduled for 2008.

In the lead-up to the festival The REP will be announcing other international collaborations including a piece by young people in Birmingham and Beijing inspired by the 2008 Olympics, a new play written across the Atlantic by Kelly High School Chicago and St Alban's School Birmingham plus monologues in development with young playwrights from India.

The Generation Conference is set to focus on:

· representations of young people on the stage, screen and other media

· diverse approaches to creating new work for young people aged 12-25 and the role of new work for this age group

· future collaborations bringing together theatre, film and TV practitioners, producers and other people working with and for young people for topical debate and discussion
