from Festival's press kit:

"ARS POETICA 2008 sets out to mix the performances of recognized contemporary poets with concerts by independent bands and performers, as well as feature films, experimental and cartoon films. The festival also offers accompanying events, such as creative writing workshops or European round-tables dedicated to publishing and translating poetry.

This year the festival will present 30 authors from 15 countries from around the world (the US, Germany, Austria, UK, Ireland, Denmark, Italy, Finland, Russia, Slovenia, Romania, Hungary, Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia). Their poems were translated by young, recognized Slovak translators: Marián Andričík, Zuzana Drábeková, Mária Ferenčuhová, Mila Haugová, Stanislava Chrobáková Repar, Valerij Kupka, Ivana Kupková, Katarína Laučíková, Pavol Lukáč, Gabriela Magová, Katarína Motyková, Jitka Rožňová, Martin Solotruk, Pavol Štubňa, Eva Ťapajnová-Kenderessyová, Milan Žitný, and others.

The translations will be read by the popular young actors Marek Majeský and Jana Majeská. The authorial performances will be enhanced by VJ sets from Zdeno Hlinka, who will use a visual language to interpret the atmosphere of every poem.

An invitation to ARS POETICA 2008 has been accepted by one of the most celebrated of American authors, Carolyn Forché, who this year was awarded the prestigious Golden Rose Award, traditionally accorded to authors with a momentous creative contribution to poetry, (The award has previously gone to poets such as Robert Frost, Seamus Heaney, Czeslaw Milosz, Robert Creeley, Robert Pinsky and Lawrence Ferlinghetti)."
